7.4 Tailings Disposal Area Water <br />• IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT, SPILL OR LEAK, THE FOLLOWING STEPS <br />ARE TO BE FOLLOWED: <br />If a worker is unfamiliar with the tailings disposal facilities <br />and discovers an accident, leak or spill, he should not attempt to <br />follow the steps below, but rather should immediately notify his <br />supervisor, the Safety and Training Supervisor or the Site <br />Supervisor. <br />NOTE: All tailings facilities have been designed for containment and <br />collection of any spills. Further, the concentrations of any reagents <br />in the tails is low enough to pose minimal health risks. <br />I. Determine the nature and extent of the problem. DO NOT <br />take any action until the proper course of action can <br />be determined based on the nature and extent of the <br />• ` accident, spill, or leak. <br />2. Put on proper body and face protection, and breathing <br />apparatus, if necessary. <br />3. Attempt to stop or contain the flow of material. <br />4. Administer first aid and medical treatment in accordance <br />with Section 6.0, if necessary. <br />5. Notify immediate Supervisor or the Safety Training <br />Supervisor. Supervisors are to report directly to the <br />Mill Superintendent or acting Duty Officer. The Mill <br />Superintendent will take further corrective and <br />notification actions, if necessary. <br />• <br />-13- <br />
