Warning signs are also part of the chemical spill prevention <br />• program and will be posted at all material storage and use areas. <br />These signs are posted to remind people of the nature of the material <br />and to promote safe practices. Copies of the Spill Prevention and <br />Emergency Response Plan will be posted in numerous highly visible <br />locations and maintained by the Safety Department. Workers will be <br />instructed by the Safety Department and their supervisors as to the <br />actions that must be taken if a spill occurs. <br />6.3 Worker Safety <br />BMR's San Luis Project is subject to the Mining Safety and <br />Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and practices. MSHA requires <br />mining companies to comply with comprehensive laws governing he <br />secured health of employees and the engineering design of buildings <br />associated with processing and development. In addition to MSHA <br />regulations and inspections, BMR will have a Safety and Training <br />Officer or a person of similar capacity that will provide safety and <br />• ~ training courses to employees. This position will also have <br />responsibility for the day to day inspection and correction of worker <br />performance. Prior to an employee performing his duties he will be <br />trained to understand safety measures. With adequate training and <br />knowledge of safety measures, most accidents can be avoided. <br />The Safety and Training Officer at the mine will conduct <br />training for appropriate individuals concerning safe handling, and <br />clean-up of and emergency medical treatment for the various materials <br />used at the project. New employees will be instructed upon hiring. <br />Periodic refresher courses will be given.
