Posey, PhD, Geologist
State of Colorado -Division of Minerals & Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Posey:
20 December 2005
Re: Application of the City of Cripple Creek to Convert Existing Limited Impact Permit (M-1993-03~
Attached is a copy of a letter dated 19 December 2005 addressed to the Director of Public Works of the City
of Cripple Creek, which is apparently seeking to convert its existing 110 Limited Impact Permit to eit er a
111 Special Operations Permit or a 112 Regular Operation Permit. The intent of the City is not clear from
the materials we received.
In any case, it is the County's position that prior to issuance of any new or converted Division of Minerals
and Geology Mined Land Reclamation Permit, and in compliance with the Teller County Land Use
Regulations, an amendment of the City's existing Teller County Conditional Use Permit -Mining, is
required. Securing the appropriate DMG permit will, of course, be a condition of any approval of the
modification of Teller County's Permit, and we will provide you promptly with notice of County approval
and a copy of the Conditional Use Permit when it is issued.
We appreciate your cooperation in this matter, and ask that the State withhold its approval of rovhatever City
application is finally submitted until such time as the County process is complete. [n general, once we
receive a complete Conditional Use Permit application we anticipate it takes approximately 90 to 120 days
before the Board of County Commissioners gives final approval.
Please feel free to call me directly at 719-686-5407 if you would like to discuss this matter.
Sincerely yours,
~~ ~~,
Paul Clarkson, Director
Att: Letter dated 19 December 2005 to Chip Huffman, Director of Public Works, City of Cripple Creek
cc: Chip Huffman, Director of Public Works, City of Cripple Creek (without attachment)
Greg Winkler, County Administrator (by e-mail)
Jean Garren, Senior Planner (by e-mail)
Chris Brandt, County Attorney (by e-mail)
File
