Shaffers Crossing (luany Pelilion to Amend ODP: F~ctend Allowable timeframe to complete Mining
• Joint sets trending (dipping) 45 degrees East into the proposed slope and
assisting in precluding the possibility of failure due to the higher degree of
standing vertically
• lack of potential structural failure and low indication of fault (structural)
presence.
• Existing indication of ability to stand well with a vertigl/sub-vertical highwall
over 73 degrees as evitlenced in adjacent SH 285 road cut estimated to be
over 120 feet unsupported.
• Moderate to good cohesion between joint sets for intact rock
• Presence of highly cohesive, high strength cross-lithology pegmatite (very
light granitic bodies) within amphibolitic country rock.
• Adjacent Property Load Calculations: Influence of horizorrtal/vertical stress
ratio and slope angle on maximum principal compressive stress at tce of
slope (finite element or other solution)
Failure Calculations, rotational, plane shear, wedge, and a risk analysis presented as part of the
findings in the j3rierlev report indicate the suitability of the site to the proposed final pit limits and
reclamation plan. This report supports the findings by the applicant from which the proposed
reclamation plan and final pit limits was developed and extractable blocks were delineated.
These blocks are illustrated as part of the plan sections attached to the Visual Impact Study.
P
The initial 2T-0 cut will be laid back !o a 1/2:1 slope and dressed with available on site
stockpiled, stripped material. Where possible this will be mulched prior to placement. Topsoil will
be placed in 6 to 12 inch lifts where areas are to bC re-vegetated. Seeding will take place using
the following:
• temporary seeding -annual rye grass shall be broadcast at 20 tbs. pure live seed per acre.
• permanent seeding -the following permaoent seed mix shall be broadcast at a rate of 19.6
Ibs/acre
30% western wheatgrass, artiba 9.6 #PLS/acre; 20%
artzona fescue - redondo 1.8# PLS/acre, 10% hard fescue - durar
0.8 #PLS/acre, 15% slender wheatgress, primer 33# PLSlacre,
15% blue gramma, lovington 0.8# PLSlacre, srmdburg bluegrass -
native 00.6 #PLSlacre.
This plan proposes that there be iota! variations to the final proposed higMvall krrritsto
accomodate the slope contouring and promote a rrrore natural final topography. T~ese~cal
variations may limit the application of hydromulch or Permeon (See Visual Impact"Ludy).
Landscaping ptzasesfor the planned development portion of construction are shown in the
attached Landscape Plan. .
We seek to remove Russian Olive as a suitable planting for on-site landscapinyand:instead
substitute native Cobrado trees including aspen and Pinon native to the area. Willows are also
substituted in lieu of pine trees along the North border of the property. This is shown in the
Landscaping Plan under the ODP Graphic (attached).
JC 00641
PetersonlElk Creek
