4,1 Wetland Mitigation Area
The revised wetland mitigation plan includes construction of a 0.2 acre shallow emergent marsh/wet
meadow. The mitigation area will be constructed as a lOf ft wide bench around Island I (see W-1
and RP-1). The mitigation area will be constructed in the same manner described in the original
Mitigation Plan. The wetland mitigation area will be constructed at the end of Mine Phase IV.
During Mine Phase V, wetland soils and vegetation will be excavated from the non jurisdictional
wetland in the Phase V mining area. The project proponent expects to construct the wetland
mitigation area in year 6 of the project. Fencing to protect the created wetlands from livestock will
not be necessary as the mitigation area will be around Island I, and will not be accessible to livestock
The ratio of created wetland to impacted wetland would be approximately 2.22:1.
All other wetland mitigation implementation, maintenance, and monitoring requirements will be in
accordance with the original plan.
