Finished Slope Gradient
[Placement of material on the slope will include backfilling. Compaction and grading. Please
describe how this will be performed, such as which types of equipment will be used for each
task, whether the created surfaces will be benched or not, whether they will be smooth or rough,
etc.]
The material to be placed on the slope will be carried out by the use of a backhoe. The
compaction and grading will be done with a backhoe "where it can be used" and a J.D. 450
dozer, which weighs approximately 8 tons.
[four narrative states that fmal slopes will be 34 though it is not clear if you mean that to be in
percent or degrees. Please clarify which measure of slope gradient is intended.]
This should have read 340 "degrees", which is what the current plan states. The surface of the
bench will be rough, to match the surrounding east, west, sides 320-340 slope, with a bit of a flat
lip on the outside "south" end.
Reclamation Plan
[The narrative states that topsoil will not be used on all slopes, and the backfilled slopes in
particular will not be top soiled. It is not cleaz which azeas will receive the topsoil. Please
clarify.]
Topsoil will be blended with the tails, topsoil will be applied to the outer edge of the pond
"southern end" approximately 2'-4' creating a flat surface with topsoil and then some rough to
create a rough surface, but not as steep as the rest of the slope, making a bit of a flat, rough lip,
before going on downhill. Which will be over time filled in somewhat, by the effects of nature,
and allowing plant growth azound the outer edge hopefully creating a bit of a safeguazd from
storm water and rock movement. The bench end of audit 2, and the short road to the proposed
area will be top soiled. After the slope is adequately backfilled.
The rest of the azeas to be top soiled aze per the reclamation plan. Which is kind of uncleaz, being
most roads will be left intact, as it was before Norther Minerals and per the land owners request.
I believe that soil should be applied to a short road, that goes to the depression area, just below
audit 2, "old crusher sight" approximately 80' in length. The road from audit 2 bench to the
proposed trailing azea and that bench would receive topsoil. The mining azea and the two
benches above and east should also receive topsoil after backfilling against the wall, the azea that
is left on the ends "southern". These aze the only azeas where topsoil will hold and not be
absorbed by rock.
Post-Mining Land Use
[There is conflicting information about the Post-Mining land use in this amendment
application:one reference states the past-mining land use will be "forestry", another states that it
will be "wildlife habitat". Please clarify this question.]
The post-mining land use should be "Forestry".
A cross-section diagram will look much the same as figure 2, cross-section A-A' through tailing
pond, it's the same area just east of the proposed tailing pond.
