COOLEY RESERVOII2 AND FULTON WILDLIFE AREA PIT
AMENDMENT NO. 1 - JERONIMUS PROPERTY
(Revised 06/03)
EXHIBIT D -MINING PLAN (Continued)
Installation of a conveyor and wash pipe crossings of the Fulton Ditch for conveyance o£
excavated material and pipe to bring fresh water to and silt wash from the existing Plant Site.
These two crossing points are already disturbed with existing piping and private drives across
the Ditch, that the Ditch company utilizes. No new disturbance will be caused by use of these
two crossing points, and these two crossing points will remain after mining is completed,
therefore these two crossing areas are not and need not be included in the permit area.
4. Topsoil and overburden excavation and stockpiling. When any dryland areas that are mined,
1' of topsoil shall be stripped and stored for later revegetation activities. Topsoil and
overburden stockpiles for use in final reclamation activities will be placed in the northeast and
southeast corners of the site out of the 100 year flood plain. No stockpiles will be located
within 200' of 104°i Avenue. Temporary topsoil and overburden stockpiles that are placed
in the 100 year flood plain area shall be a maximum of 20' in height and 100' in width with
100' gaps between 300' long piles, be placed parallel to the S. Platte River's overflow
direction, and have a maximum slope of 1H:1 V. A Flood Plain Use Permit from Adams
County shall be obtained for all operations within the flood plain.
5. Installation of temporary conveyors and temporary internal roadways as needed.
6. Topsoil and overburden stockpiles that are expected to remain undisturbed for less than one
year may remain at a maximum slope of 1H:1V, and need not be vegetated. Stockpiles
expected to remain longer than one year shall be sloped to a maximum slope of 3H:1 V, and
then be revegetated with non-irrigated grasses per the Cooley Reservoir Mix A from NRCS
01/28/03 letter as copied as page 7 of this EXHIBIT to minimize wind and precipitation
erosion. For broadcast seeding, this rate shall be doubled. Based on a maximum reclamation
need of 10 acres of disturbance to non-wetlands area for revegetation activities, the amount
of topsoil stockpiled could be 16,000± cubic yards stored in southeast and northeast comers
of the site.
Any areas adjacent to existing wetlands that are disturbed shall be revegetated with non-
irrigated grasses per the Cooley Reservoir Mix C from NRCS 01/28/03 letter as copied as
page 8 of this EXHIBIT.
8. Temporary stockpiling of excavated material, particularly any material from below the water
table, to allow the draining of water from the material, prior to conveyance to the Plant Site
for processing or off-site for use as borrow material.
