0
EXFEBIT E-- RECLAMATION PLAN
Reclamation at the Oak Creek Pit will commence 5 years after the expansion of
mining and continue throughout the life of mine. Reclamation will consist of re-grading
the disturbed surface area to slopes no greater that 3:1, H: V, along with timely planting
of native grasses and shrub seed mixtures. Topsoil extracted from the site will be
replaced at one-foot depth prior to the planting of the seed mixtures. The seed mixture
will include native grasses and shrubs found on the site or known to grow well in the
area. The seed mixture for this site is listed on the following page. This seed mixture
will :make it possible for the preceding land use; open grazing, to resume at the
termination of mining.
Prior to seeding, a soil sample will be analyzed for NKP requirements.
Appropriate amounts of fertilizer will be applied in accordance with soil sample
recommendations. Final grading operations will include bulldozer ripping at least one
foot below the surface of the flat areas to reduce compaction from front-end loader and
truck operations. Seeding will commence within 30 days from final grading and ripping
operations and will be scheduled in late fall or early spring to maximize seed
germination. After broadcasting seed at a rate of 20# PLS/acre, the seeded areas will be
mulched with certified noxious free straw at 3000#/acre and crimped into the planting
medium with dozer tracks or disk apparatus.
5
