Proposed Action: The Proposed Action would result in a small increase in noise <br />as the new detention basin is constructed over time. The amount of increase in noise would <br />depend on the equipment being used and the intensity of the work. It is not anticipated that this <br />would be a constant new source of noise, rather an irregular one. <br />No Action Alternative: The No Action Alternative would result in no increase in <br />noise as the project would not be completed. <br />Cumulative Impacts of the Proposed Action: The current mining operation is the <br />primary noise source in the area The addition of the Proposed Action would result in a small <br />overall increase in noise but on an irregular basis over the next 5-10 years. <br />REALTY AUTHORIZATIONS <br />Affected Environment: The following is a copy of part of the Master Title Plat for T. 14 <br />S., R 78 W.: <br />The proposal is within the 1922 secretarial order classifying the area for Power Site #32 <br />(reservoir) on the Arkansas River. <br />Environmental ConsequenceslMitigatIon: <br />No impact to the possibility of or impact to the power site (reservoir) is <br />anticipated. Although development of the power site is remote, the gravel authorization should <br />carry a term allowing cancellation of the gravel extraction permit if the power site is developed, <br />since that right is first in time. <br />According to the proposed action descripfion the proposal is to create a water <br />detention basin on the public lands that will allow the water to percolate back into the ground <br />water at a faster rate than the can ent situation where it simply runs across the open fields.
