residents as the area is sparsely populated. Fugitive dust and regional haze would be increased
( during the period of mining operations.
No Action Alternative: None
I~
Cumulative Impacts of the Proposed Action: The proposed activity will include
cumulative impacts to the generation of fugitive dust and regional haze in the area. The effects
could be expected to last only during the period of active mining. Adequate re-vegetation of the
detention basin would mitigate this effect once mining was complete. If, however, the surface of
the detention pond could not be adequately re-vegetated the 20 acre expanse of bare soil might
become a permanent generator of dust for the area It may be very difficult to re-vegetate the site
considering that the expectation is that it would be annually inundated by surface water that
would dry during the summer season.
CULTURAL RESOURCES
Affected Environment: Both prehistoric and historic sites are present in the vicinity of
the area ofpotential effect. Two aboriginal sites, SCF1937 and SCF2213, were recorded during
the cultural resources inventory [see Report CR-RG-06-105 (P)).
Environmental Consequences/Mitigation: Because neither site is eligible for the
National Register of Historic Properties, neither is considered a historic property and there will
be no effect on any historic properties. Therefore, no additional work is necessary.
Environmental Consequences/Mitigatfon:
Proposed Action: No effect, no mitigation necessary.
No Action Alternative: No effect, no mitigation necessary.
Other Alternative: No effect, no ntigation necessary.
Cumulative Impacts of the Proposed Action: None foreseen.
ENVIILONMENTAL JUSTICE
Affected Environment: There are no minority or low-income populations in or near the
project azea.
Environmental Consequences/Mitigatfon: None of the alternatives will have a
disproportionatelyhfgh and adverse human health or environmental effect on minority or low-
incomepopulations.
Cumulative Impacts of the Proposed Action: None
FARMLANDS, PRIME AND UNIQUE
