Shutt ~
GATE: April 16, 1992
SUBJECT: Addendum to Chemical Analytical Matrix
I em hoping that we now have the final design for the chemical analytical matrix.
I met with MLRD personnel (15th Apr11) and discussed our matrix design (of lkth
April). Their sue9estions have been incorporated into the attached matrix (dated
16th April) and include the following additions:
1. Once a week take a sample from the Collector pond and analyse for total
cyanide and WAD cyanide.
2. On the Monday and Wednesday samples (which are also tested by outside labs)
also analyze the collector pond sample for WAD and Cu.
This matrix (18th Apr11) will be reviewed one more time by MLRD bilfore they give
us final approval.
After discussions with Blaine Olson, I believe that i should explain (to clarify)
a few points in the analytical matrix,
1. The _"As is" samples taken on Monday and Wednesday need analyzing for free
(CN) ~1Y•
2. The "pH Ad,)usted" should be fully analysed according to the matrix.
3. The "As is" samples shall be taken on Wednesday, 15th Apr11 (already done)
and Monday, 20th April on1v. After that all samples taken an Mondays and
Wednesdays shall be "pH Ad,)usted" on1v. In other words - drop the "As is"
sampling on Wednesday, 22nd April.
4. When analyzing the Monday and Wednesday samples (on Wednesday and Friday
respectively) the pH and free (CN)~ ust be analyzed on the correct day; the
WAD and metals can be measured later if you run out of time.
BF/
