COOLEY RESERVOII2 AtND FULTON WII,DLIFE 4REA PIT <br />r+.t~LENDNLENT NO. 1- ,7ERONIlVNS PROPERTY <br />EYHIBIT G WATER INFORtVL1TION <br />Note: The below information was prepared by the Applegate Group, Inc., who also prepared the <br />Water Information for the existing permit area. <br />The proposed mining operation is Located in the NE `/a of Section 16, Township 2 South, <br />Rance 67 West of the Sixth Principal ~[eridian in Adams County. The site is located <br />south of 104`h avenue just east of the Fulton Ditch. The operation will consist of sand <br />and gravel production. The operation will impact the South Platte River in the form of <br />depletions due to evaporation and operational Losses associated with mining. These <br />impacts can be mitigated without injury to the vested senior rights downstream of the <br />site. <br />Currently, [here is approximately ?8.10 acres of exposed surface area at the site. it is <br />.expected that approximately 67% of this will be filled in a[ reclamation. Of the curent <br />total exposed surface area, approximately L3.14 acres were exposed prior to 1980. An <br />additional 14.96 acres were exposed due to reining operations at the site after 1980. A <br />substitute supply plan for the replacement of stream depletions during the mining phase <br />will be submitted to the State Eneineer's Ofrice. The length of time for the completion of <br />the project is estimated at 10 years. <br />Water Use <br />Water use at the site will include evaporation from groundwater exposed to the <br />atmosphere after 1980, water retained in material removed from the site and water for <br />dust control. The site will be wet mined, therefore the only exposed groundwater will 'oe <br />from the existing ponds. Thus, the total exposed surface area during reining is estimated <br />at 14.96 acres. <br />The NOA.A Technical Report NWS 33, Evaporation Atlas for the Contiettous 48 States <br />(U.S. Department of Commerce) was used to determine gross evaporation. For this <br />location, the annual evaporation is 42 inches- Ytonthly evaporation percentages as <br />suggested by the Of~ice of the State Engineer were used to calculate monthly <br />evaporation. <br />Precipitation was estimated from the High Plains Regional Climate Center for the <br />Northoienn Weather Station. Annual Precipitation at the site was assumed to be equal io <br />the Northglenn Station, which is 14.08 inches. Effective precipitation was calculated as <br />70% of the total precipitation. Nei evaporation was then computed as the difference <br />be*.ween Bross evaporation and effective orecpitation. The get annual evaporation at the <br />site is 270 feet. Thus, the resulting net annual evaporative consumptive use during cY;e <br />mining operation is 40.39 acre-`eel. <br />Following mining, material will be processed off site. The water retained in this material <br />is considered as a consumptive use. the anticipated amount of mate:;al that will be <br />mined and washed from the site each year is estimated at 300,000 tons of raw material. <br />2 <br />
