In addition to or concurrent with the visual inspection, <br />• the Contractor shall test all seams with use of vacuum box, <br />air lance, or other standard techniques. Details of the method <br />of nondestructive seam testing to be adopted shalil be submitted <br />to the Engineer for approval prior to its use. Any holes <br />detected in the seam shall be recorded and marked for repair. <br />All repaired areas shall be retested upon completion of the <br />repair. <br />7.3.5 Collection Ditch Liner <br />The upper liner for the collection ditch surrounding the <br />tailings embankment shall be 60-mil (minimum) HDPE, the lower <br />liner shall be 40-mil VLDPE, or equivalent and shall conform <br />to the requirements as outlined in Section 'x.3.1 for the <br />tailings disposal area liner. <br />7.3.6 Pioeline Ditch Liner <br />• , <br />The pipeline ditch to transport slurried tailings to the <br />disposal area and reclaim water back to the mill shall be <br />double lined with 60-mil (minimum) HDPE, or equivalent. The <br />liner shall adhere to the requirements as described in Section <br />7.3.1. <br />7.3.7 full Pond Test <br />Following all testing of the installation of the liner <br />within the collection pond, the installation will not be <br />accepted until a successful full pond test is performed. The <br />Owner and Engineer will be responsible for filling the pond <br />with water and monitoring the leak detection system. In the <br />event leakage is detected, the pond will be emptied, repaired, <br />and retested. <br />• <br />37 <br />
