The drum shall not be less than 50 inches in diameter and 12 <br />inches in width. <br />• 6.6.5 Special Compactors <br />Special compactors may include: <br />• Loaded dump trucks; <br />• Hand guided, heavy-duty mechanical tampers; <br />• Hand guided vibratory rollers; and <br />• Such other compaction equipment as may be approved <br />by the Engineer for use in restricted areas or near <br />certain critical installations. <br />Special compactors shall be capable of producing, with a <br />reasonable number of passes, the specified densities in the <br />fill material on which they are used. <br />Only hand-guided mechanical tampers or hand-guided <br />• vibratory rollers shall be used for compaction around, over, <br />near, or adjacent to pipes, culverts, and concrete structures. <br />• <br />30 <br />
