The following information is being submitted on behalf of our client, Bestway Paving, for the
Pit No. 1 mining operation (M-1977-315). Bestway Paving is requesting release of the permit
and bonding for reclamation activities and associated costs. The affected area has been
backfilled, graded, and revegetated consistent with Exhibit E, Reclamation Plan, and associated
amendments and revisions. All backfilling and grading activities on the 28-acre site were done
as mining progressed. Final grading and slope stabilization was finished in spring 2005 after
mining operations were completed. The owner chose to seed the majority of the pit slopes, with
grass and stabilize most of the pit floor with gravel, consistent with the final land use of
industria]/commercial.
In compliance with Subsections 3.1.1 through 3.1.4 of Section 3.1, Reclamation Performance
Standards, Construction Material Rules and Regulations, apost-mining land use. was established
for the site, approved by the Office, and a reclamation plan was formulated. As stated in
Exhibit E, the final reclamation plan for this site was to return the disturbed ground to
industrial/commercial use. Consistent with Exhibit D, backfilling of the mined pit slopes and
grading activities were concurrent with mining operations. ,
As listed below, reclamation of the site has complied with additional subsections of. the
Reclamation Performance Standards.
