r
71 Haulroad C rock check dam A portion of the berm material
supposedly pushed in was actually a portion of the roadway edge
that had been left in place for sump access, and the material that
was pushed in consisted of a small section of the berm which was on
top of this small bench. Observation of the area indicated no
offsite impact or sediment contribution to the stream.
8) Ditch G-4 This ditch exhibited a small breech, and was partially
blocked by a repair effect. The breech was the result of a snow-dam
which impeded flow during the unusually heavy snowmelt period, and
the ditch was identified for maintenance. This item was addressed
May 24, and was observed by Mr. Berry on May 25.
As previously discussed, this spring was unusually wet, and
attempts to work in many areas were hampered through a combination
of spring showers, snowmelt, and the frost coming out of the ground
over an extended period.
TCC retained contractors on an overtime basis and over the weekend
to complete the required abatements well in advance of the date set
forth in the violation notice. Also, TCC personnel worked
additional shifts and overtime in co-ordinating and supervising the
abatement effort.
All of the above-referenced items were addressed prior to the
termination of the violation, and Mr. Berry terminated the
violation on May 26, 1993.
Should you have any questions or comments, please contact me at
your convenience.
Sincerely,
'Marcus M/i//d/d%1/e~ton
Environmental Specialist
file:\mam\nov79pai.let
