Page 3

The size of the diversion ditches would depend upon the
anticipated runoff. The higher elevations with a limited
watershed runofi_ area w ld have a 2' bottom width (Type A)
and as the runoff area uses the ditches would increase
in size to Type C. It w be the option of the operator
to determine the size as it would be necessary for him to
provide adequate drainage to'insure continued operation.
Construction of the ditches would be by dozer and back hoe.
The ditches would be lined with riprap as necessary to re-
' duce "cutting". Maintenance of the ditches would be
periodic and be consistent with good quarrying practices.
6. Shrubs and trees were not included in the reclamation pro-
posed by the SCf~. It is anticipated that this type of
revegatation would propagate naturally. Mr. Thorson has
investigated thEa possibility of growing fruit trees in
the reclaimed quarry. This is a possibility that would be
decided at the time of final reclamation.
7. The settling arEaa proposed on the mining plan is to be
used to contain topsoil and other materials that normally
would run off into the wash to the north of the proposed
area.
The roadway suri~ace would be at the 5840 level. The cul-
vert bottom would be 2-3 feet below the road surface. The
roadway slopes orould have riprap to prevent erosion.
The settling area will be cleaned as needed, and the
material that i:; removed will be stockpiled for use in the
final reclamation. Since this runoff will be intermittent,
there will be na problem of keeping the area open and free
of debris.
The capacity of the se
inverted height of the
extreme runoff will be
The settling area will
of the year.
