1. There is waste removal which includes topsoil provided in
the quarry plan. The topsoil can removed sequentially
as requested. 'I11ese answers will be sent to the Thorsons and
will become part of the quarry plan and will show that
the topsoil should be removed only as quarry necessitates.
The estimated topsoil that will be removed is 6-10,000 tons.
The revised rec:amation final plan now shows an area for
stockpiling topsoil. This area provides for an excess of
10,000 tons and will be level with the quarry floor on
the west side 5860 contour and extends level to a final
elevation of 5860 ft. as the toe of the stockpile reaches
the 5840 contour, The north side of the stockpile will
terminate at the haul road and the south side at the
drainage area. The north, east and south sides will be at
a 4:1 slope.
The SCS report :Ls ambiguous as it requests that 18 inches
of topsoil be applied, The distrubed area consists of
+ 8 inches on the flat elevated areas and 0 to 6 on the
slope area. An estimated 8,000 tons of topsoil will be
removed and stockpiled. This topsoil will provide up to
12 inches of topsoil for the disturbed area. The topsoil
will be replaced as described except that 6 inches of
topsoil will be placed and then ripped 8-12 inches to pro-
vide adhesion between the topsoil and subsoil. The addi-
tional topsoil will be placed on top of this ripped area
and harrowed. 7ihe depth of the final topsoil is estimated
to be between 10 and 12 inches,
The topsoil will. swell + 20% as it is being removed and
replaced. This factor in conjunction with an undulating
initial topography versus a relatively flat reclaimed
area will provide the extra topsoil final depth. It is
anticipated that: no additional topsoil will be required,
2. The revised final reclamation map shows the segrated top-
soil area 160' ~: 80' x 20' will provide an area for
10,000 plus ton:;.
Durable rock (ri.prap) will be stockpiled at the N.W.
corner (70' x 70' x 20') and will provide for 4,500 tons
of rock storage. Initially riprap will be used to line
the drainage area from the 5860 contour in the center of
the quarry to tYce culverts in the access roads. This will
eliminate excess. erosion. The small rock will be used for
road base within the quarry area.
INMlNCO
