REGULAR (112) OPERATION CONVERSION APPLICATION
JESSE LEE PIT
CHAFPEE COUNTY, COLORADO
APPLICANT: PELINO, INC. RECEIVED
EXHIBIT E pUli 7_ g Z0~6
RECLAMATION PLAN
Page 1 of 2 Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety
At completion of this operation this pit will be a relatively flat azea with excellent access to the
Arkansas River and Maxwell Creek. The primary future land use of Rangeland was chosen to
facilitate revegetation of the native species that naturally thrive in this bottom-land.
The Rangeland designation is highly compatible with surrounding land use and well in keeping
with the Chaffee County Land Use Plan. Please refer to the Permit from Chaffee County included
in Exhibit M.
Phase I is vegetated, and reclamation is nearly complete. The only use of this area will be the
sediment ponds and the only disturbance of this area will be the construction and maintenance of
the diversion ditch. This work will be done by rubber-tired backhoe or other small construction
equipment to preserve the existing vegetation as much as possible. The vegetation present in this
azea is native and grows aggressively. We anticipate that the minor disturbances caused by these
activities will naturally revegetate quickly.
Phases II and III are the slopes on the north and west sides of the pit that will be cut to a finished
grade not to exceed 3H:1 V. These slopes will be covered with 6 to 12 inches of topsoil from the
stockpiles and disked in prepazation for seeding.
Broadcast seeding is proposed between August and eazly October, historically Chaffee County's
expected fall rains, at the rate of 25 pounds of pure live seed per acre per acre, double the amount
that would be used if the seed were drilled. The applicant proposes to use Dry Land Pasture mix.
According to product information, this seed is recommended for unin•igated pastures up to
10,500 feet elevation and should be applied at the rate of 15-25 pounds per acre.
This mix consists of:
Lincoln Smooth Brome 15%
Ephraim Crested Wheat 15%
Tetraploid Per. Rye Grass 15%
Intermediate Wheat Grass 25%
Nordan Crested Wheat Grass 15%
Russian Wild Rye 15%
TOTAL 100%
3.75 Ib pure live seed/ac
3.75 lb pure live seed/ac
3.751b pure live seed/ac
6.25 lb pure live seed/ac
3.75 lb pure live seed/ac
3.751b pure live seed/ac
25.00 lb pure live seed/ac
Seeded areas will be mulched with certified weed free straw, hand spread at the rate of
approximately one 75 pound bale per 700 square feet. Crimping will be done with a small dozer
in lines perpendicular to the slope.
