and berms have been or will be constructed to preclude surface water <br />contact with waste rock materials. <br />The granitic waste rock has not exhibited acid-generation characteristics <br />to date, nor is it anticipated to be acid-generating. Mineralogic discussion <br />of the waste rock material is provided under Item (d) -Waste Rock and <br />Ore Characteristics. <br />(d) Thickness of the Deposit to be Mined <br />The Cash and Who Do Mine Project is an underground, narrow-vein <br />operation. Individual veins are steeply dipping (near vertical) and will vary <br />in thickness, but will generally range from 1- to 3-feet in thickness in most <br />areas to be mined. More detailed information pertaining to the various <br />vein systems anticipated to be encountered is contained within the Permit <br />No. M-83-141 file. <br />(ej Mine Operations <br />Mining methods are not anticipated to vary significantly from the methods <br />employed in initial development of the prospect adit. However, operations <br />will be shifted to a mode that optimizes development of ore zones and ore <br />recovery. Some modifications and/or improvements to the existing adit <br />are anticipated to accommodate production, primarily as relating to <br />conversion from rubber-tire to rail haulage. <br />Initial ore production is anticipated to occur from areas accessible to the <br />Cash, Freiberg, St. Joe, and Mack vein systems. It is anticipated that ore <br />production will rapidly achieve the planned nominal 50 tons per day (tpd) <br />rate. <br />The mine will employ a resuing mining method on the steeply dipping and <br />narrow quartz veins. Track haulage will continue to be utilized to remove <br />both ore and developmental waste rock. Ore will be routed to the <br />combination ore bin/loadout facility (to be constructed), whereas waste <br />rock will be utilized to extend or level the waste rock stockpile to its full <br />design capacity. It is anticipated that once ore production is underway, <br />some portion of the waste rock volume can be retained underground in <br />mined out stopes. <br />The mine will utilize conventional types of small mine equipment such as <br />air compressors, jackleg drills, stopers, mucking machines, Blushers, <br />trammers and ore cars, mechanical and/or electrical pumps, and electric <br />fan ventilation. Conventional explosives will be used to break both ore <br />and waste. <br />The normal mining production sequence will consist of drilling and <br />blasting of ore and/or waste; mucking out or removing the ore or waste to <br />cars for transport to the portal area; and, delivery of the ore to the Gold <br />Hill Mill (or waste rock to the stockpile).
