., Environment; lnc. " Page 3
• Albeit freltand, $ons, lnc: "
INalstnim: Aggregate Quarry
M,L::R:B. Peimk M-83-033
Revey, report.' "NO additional reclamation is planned for this slick
rock face at this time.
- 9:, Attached.is a copy of, our NPDES Permit/Storm Water Management Plan
(SWMP) map showing how drainage "from the disturbed mine area is
- managed':.', This map wi'1l be revised as necessary to addresses
potential runoff concerns-in the future. Only water that contacts
the mined area-has to `be controlled per CDOH requirements. Water
from; the undisturbed area is diverted around the active mine area
to keep it from becoming process water. Precipitation falling on
~. the site is directed into the mine and retained on the site until
- it is treated for release under our permits.
The only discharge point for .the quarry is.at the mouth of the
existing entrance:. This was an ephemeral creek that drains a 227
acre basin-that include most of the .quarry and extends to the
ridge line above the mine. In"1994 a storm water/process water
.retention pond was installed west of the scale house on the old
-creek channel to collect any-storm water runoff from the mine area
proper: Freis records show there. have been no discharges from
this pond since that. time.
In"2001, Stage Y was regraded and a retention pond was constructed-
, on the east end to collect any runoff from this .area and prevent
it from entering the .river. Attached is a sketch map showing how
Stage Y will be completed as required .by the Clear Creek County
'. Commissioner. This landscaping plan contains items that will
prevent process water from entering Clear Creek.- In addition, a
silt"fence has' been constructed along the-west end of the area
,, where bhe landscape berm is being built. As mining. progresses the
retention ponds will be resized as needed and when the lake areas
" are. built,., any surface runoff that contacts the disturbed area
will be directed to those depressions"for settling prior to
' release finder.the approved NPDES permit. Each retention pond has
an Urban Drainage and`Flood Control District (UDFCD) type,
§tormwater quality outlet designed to release the water at a
controlled 'rate,. that will not only control water quality but. meet
the release requirements of the OSE.
BMP's that are or that will be employed on the mine area include
but are not limited toc
STORMWATER RETENTION 'PONDS
- SILT FENCES -
- TEMPORARY STRAW BALE BARRIERS
" -TEMPORARY REVEGETAT ION ". - ..
- - ~ STORM WATER QUALITY OUTLET DESIGNED TO UDFCD STANDARDS
5. Attached is a revised reclamation cost estimate to address the
April-.2002 inspection. It is based bn how much reclamation was
needed on 7/17/2002 since the-mine changes daily and some baseline
had to be chosen. It addresses each additional item you list,
corrected the typo'of the topsoil costs and show that the
mobilisation was for demobilization also. The Reclamation Plan
' Map shows Phase Y as a commercial area when reclamation is
.complete. This is an area leased to a log home building company
as a log yaid and construction area. Clear Creek County issued a
~$pecal Use permit for this use. Albert Frei .and Sons, Inc., wish
to 1'eave it as a commercial"area. i may have forgot to make this
ti x :. s t aok ~~ s ,.,~. xs ' a ~
- '~.x- .~.x. was -`.. .a.L n^...a.... ~.SSa'L'#xsrm't»3,W3.4, A.{. - . ix-,.a. ~ ...c .
