Phase IVb Weekly Summary No. 10 Page 2 003-2203
• Phase IV c
Ames continued placement of Structural Fill (SF) in the Phase IVc azea. Ames placed SF down slope to
the temporary stockpiles, above and below the old Connolly haul road elevation. The SF materials cut
from upslope were temporarily stockpiled above the Phase IV b/c temporary diversion channel.
Ames performed excavation remediation activities at underground workings UG-304, UG-504, UG-
269, and UG-274. Workings were designated as "Shallow" or "Deep" as defined in the drawings,
and will be remediated accordingly.
Ames placed Cemented Rockfill (CR) at UG-304.
Ames constructed a geogrid cap over UG-269. Ames placed two layers of geogrid in accordance
with the drawings and specifications.
Ames placed Structural Fill (SF) over previously remediated working UG-269.
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials placed were verified as suitable, and construction methods were in
accordance with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill
• areas was observed. Golder observed Structural Fill (SF) cut and placement in Phase IV for
materials, lift thickness, moisture content, and compactive effort.
Golder observed and documented excavation remediation activities associated with the Phase IV
underground working construction. Workings were designated as "Shallow' or "Deep" as defined in
the drawings and will be remediated accordingly.
Golder sampled and shipped nine lots of geogrid to the Golder Soils laboratory in Atlanta for MQA
testing. Geogrid shipped by Ames arrived on site on February 6, 2003.
Golder observed placement of SF, geogrid, and CR for underground working remediation. These
materials were placed in accordance with the drawings and specifications into excavated or open
underground workings. Golder previously obtained samples of SF for laboratory testing. Materials
supplied met specifications.
Laboratorv Tests
Golder obtained a sample of Soil Liner Fill (SLF) at the Ames processing area and shipped the sample
to the Golder Soils Lab in Denver for QC index testing. Materials supplied met project specifications.
Meetings
• CC&V held a Weekly Contractors meeting on February 11, 2003. Items discussed included Safety,
Pbase lVM1 IO FcbOi-I5, '_OOJ Golder Associates Inc.
