Divisor
Re NOVS N0. C-91-005, C-91-006
and C-91-007
Dear Dave:
This letter is a response to the violations mentioned above. For
Violation C-91-005, American Shield commits to revegetatinq the
site according to the approved revegetation plan by October 30,
1991.
For Violation C-91-005, the following material is submitted to
demonstrate that the area that does not drain to the existing
sediment pond will be controlled and will not cause damage to the
waters downstream:
The total area that does not drain to the sediment pond is 2.2
acres. Currently, 2.0 acres of the total drains to a series of
hay bales anchored into the ground with 4' length rebar. Two
rebar have been placed in each bale. Three rows of three bales
each have been installed where the dam of the small sediment pond
once stood. The attached sheet shows the 10 year - 24 hour peak
flow calculation for this drainage area. The peak flow is l.7 cfs.
The remaining 0.2 acres which does not drain to the hay bales is
a result of the fact that the mine had stockpiled topsoil outside
of the drainage area to the small pond. Once this stockpile was
removed to reclaim the site, it left a small disturbed site which
did not drain to the hay bales. In order to correct this problem,
the company commits to channeling the runoff from the 0.2 acres
to the drainage with the hay bales. Additional hay bales may be
used if needed. We request that a three week extension be granted
for this work, until Aug 16, 1991.
The hay bales are firmly anchored in the drainage. The drainage
