Mining will
stay above the water table based on monthly measurements from 5 on-site Piezometers
and if any groundwater is unexpectedly encountered, mining will immediately cease in
that area and the area will be immediately backfilled to 2 feet above the water table.
Surface water will be used from Smith Creek for dust control as allowed by water rights
associated with the property.
There will be no discharge into any streams or water bodies from operation of this site.
Noise
The placement of the processing plant within the pit (approximately 50 feet below ground
surface) will minimize noise from this operation. Six foot screening berms will also be
placed around the mined areas as needed to minimize noise and visual impacts.
King Mountain Sand & Gravel Mine February 2006
King Mountain Gravel, LLC Page 9
