Seneca II Mine, Permit No. C-1980-005, Permittint= and Inspection Issues <br />TR-36 <br />6/14/04 Application submitted (addressed several issues identified in <br />September 2003 inspection) <br />• changes/updates to select postmine (PM) channel designs: PM- <br />1, PM-6, PM-9, PM-12, PM-15, PM-17, PM-18, and PM-22 <br />• hydrologic monitoring plan changes <br />Petroleum Contaminated Material stockpile location change <br />6/17/04 Application deemed complete <br />8/2/04 DMG Preliminary adequacy letter sent <br />• Problems noted with resubmitted SEDCAD designs <br />8/30/04 SCC decision extension request <br />10/18/04 Decision deadline extended from 8/16/04 <br />This technical revision was requested following an inspection of all post mine drainage <br />channels conducted in September 2003. During the September 2003 inspection, erosion <br />was observed in many of the channels. Channels were either not constructed according to <br />the approved plans or SCC had design considerations or changes that would improve <br />select channels. Additionally, some channels were not constructed. During the last <br />complete inspection on July 20-21, 2004 the status of each channel was reevaluated as <br />detailed in the inspection report. <br />2004 Permit Midterm review <br />8/17/04 Midterm permit review conducted -Issues <br />• Permanent road retention <br />• Erosion control and postmine drainage <br />• Solid waste disposal <br />• Reclamation of the facilities azea <br />• Revegetation success standards <br />• Noxious weed management plan <br />Seneca II Inspection issues - <br />Postmine drainage designs and density have been an ongoing issue at the Seneca II Mine. <br />Areas of erosion and instability in graded channel sections have been identified in <br />numerous inspection reports and continue to be problematic. <br />Post Mine Drainage Channel PM-6 above Stock Pond T29 requires maintenance and <br />repair. <br />PM-4 requires erosion repair and additional riprap protection particulazly at the head of <br />the channel. <br />
