Farther, the <br />Division believes that all tailings area monitoring facilities should be <br />sampled monthly and the analytical results reported expedition ly to the <br />Division. This evaluation report shall be submitted to the Di ision as a <br />technical revision prior to May 29, 1992. <br />Further, BMG shall develop and submit a tailings effluent leak ge <br />interception, containment and treatment plan, to be implemente in the <br />event of contaminant migration from the tailings area. This c ntingency <br />response plan should specify methods to remedy contamination o ground <br />water, surface water and soil. This plan shall be submitted t the <br />Division as a technical revision prior to June 15, 1992. <br />Status: Satisfied - 8MG has committed to development of remed~ai plan <br />in letter of April 16, 1992. <br />- The requirements for monitoring plan modi ication <br />were only advanced by the Division on Apr 1 21, 1992. <br />- BMG verba.ily committed to modify the moni oring plan <br />on April 22, 1992. <br />Mav Progress: - BMG has met with the Division on May 21, 992 to <br />discuss preliminary concepts to be includ d in its <br />revs round water monitoring plan, to a submitted <br />by May 29, 1992. Copies of this revision <br />app z n will provided to the Parties or comment. <br /><7> Modification of Ore Processing Methodology: <br />BMG's preliminary suspicions of altered metallic ore content, nd the <br />coincidental failure of the designed processing cyanide recove y circuit, <br />are indications that the ore processing methodology currently eing <br />applied by BMG may require significant modification. If BMG d termines <br />it necessary to modify its ore processing methodology, BMG sha 1 submit <br />appropriate applications to the Division. Appropriate permit <br />modifications, supported by comprehensive analytical results a d design <br />evaluations, shall be submitted by BMG to the Division for rev~ew and <br />approval no later than 45 days following completion of the cya ide <br />detoxification of the tailings areas contents, described in it~m (4) <br />above. <br />Status: Satisfied - BMG has committed to the completion of th requested <br />investigations, the development of an app opriate <br />detoxification procedure, and the submiss on of a <br />summary report in a letter of April 16, 1 92. <br />(8) Modification of Tailings Area Reclamation Plan: <br />The Division is concerned that the introduction of cyanide into the <br />tailings area may be indicative of the inclusion of associatedlmetallic <br />contaminants not originally anticipated in its approved operations and <br />
