<br />E~rrD RECEIVED <br />MINING PLAN MAR 1 3 2002 <br />23 ROAD PIT piYision of Minerals and Geology <br />AMENDMENT #3 <br />PERMIT # M-79-089 <br />The purpose of this Amendment is to add 52 acres to the existing Pemut. The area to be added <br />is located on the west side of 23 Road in Section 6, Township 1 South, Range 1 West of the Ute <br />Meridian. See Exhibit C. <br />The total are to be mined under this amendment is 47.4 acres, with the remaining acreage <br />consisting of setbacks. Approximately 40 acres of the azea to be added is comprised of irrigated <br />cropland with the remaining area being the old processing site from the original Permit, which <br />is presently being used by Mesa Rock for stone processing and storage. <br />The azea will be mined in three Phases. Phase I consists of the azea north of the processing site. <br />Mining will start on the north side adjacent to River Road and proceed to the south. Phase II <br />which is located south of the processing site will be mined next. Phase III, the processing site <br />area, will be mined last. Materia! from Phase III with be stockpiled in the bottom and or <br />stockpiled on the east side of 23 Road. See Exhibit C. Excess overburden from Phases II and III <br />will be used to fill Phase I area back to its original elevation. <br />The overburden on the site averages twelve feet in depth. The depth of the sand and gravel <br />deposit thirteen feet. The underlying material is Mancos Shale. <br />Mining will be done using front-end loaders, hydraulic excavators, dozers and trucks. <br />Mining will start in the summer of fall after all permits have been obtained. The anticipated life <br />of the pit is eight to twelve years. <br />The primary product to be mined is sand and gravel. The material will be used for construction <br />aggregate for roads, pipe bedding and concrete. <br />
