MW-5. The five quarterly baseline samples will be the first five quarterly <br />samples collected following construction of the well, taken in June 2007 <br />through June 2008. Pending the collection of these samples, MRV <br />proposes the adoption of the agricultural standards (Table 1) as the <br />baseline standards. <br />GRADIENT <br />Comment <br />5. As previously requested in the Division Cash Mine -Amendment No. 2 "2nd <br />Adequacy Review Comments" the groundwater monitoring plan will need to <br />include provisions for determination of the groundwater gradient within the Cash <br />Mine and surrounding area. (This information is being requested in conformance <br />with Rule 6.3.3(1)(i)J. Please provide. <br />Response <br />The current groundwater gradient in the vicinity of the Cash Mine has been <br />established by the dewatering of the mine in recent years. The current gradient <br />has been computed from modeling of the groundwater flow system, and is <br />presented in Plate 1. As can be seen from the plate, the groundwater gradient in <br />the vicinity of the mine is towards the mine; thus no water can leave the mine by <br />gravity flow during the operation. The mine pool is downgradient of all mine- <br />related activities, excluding portions of the access road, and the mine pool is <br />
