Sediment pond quarterly inspections completed 4-25-94 <br />Pond D & G - MSHA size - have weekly inspections conducted. <br />Annual certification completed 2-21-94. <br />Pond certification dates: <br />Pond B - pre-existing Pond T - 7-15-81 <br />Pond C - 7-15-81 Pond E - 8-8-85 <br />Pond E - 7-15-81 <br />SPCC plan ~ 0027154 - revised 3-22-91 <br />The following areas of the mine were viewed with comment made <br />as necessary: <br />Fish Creek Borehole - This fan <br />stable. No visible signs of subsidence. <br />However, according to Mr. Mills subsidence usually occurs <br />within 6 months to a year after mining. <br />Fish (reek Tipple -'The area 'is generally well maintained. <br />There is; however, some-old -rusted equipment (barrels, etc.)- - <br />piled up on the site that should be disposed of properly. <br />Ditches appear functional. <br />Water Treatment Ponds - these structures were built in late <br />summer 1993. Area was seeded last fall. Some minor erosion is <br />occurring on the outslope of the uppermost pond. This appears <br />to be caused by runoff from the parking area above the ponds <br />being directed toward the outslope of the upper pond. No <br />violation at this time. Redirecting the drainage should <br />alleviate the problem. <br />Warehouse area - The ditch on the back side of the Warehouse <br />and running parallel to the railroad is exhibiting signs of <br />erosion in the low flow channel. No violation at this time. <br />However, the gradient, soil characteristics, volume of flow <br />and approved armoring techniques may need to be re-evaluated <br />to ensure long term stability. <br />Rock Dust Area - Topsoil pile is vegetated and marked. This is <br />a "SAE" area. Measures utilized in this area (ditches, gravel <br />dike) are well maintained and appear to be functioning as <br />designed. <br />Low Quality Coal Pile - originally this area was an open pit <br />
