VEGETATION INFORMATION
EXIiIBIT J
The vegetation on the entire permit area, with exception to the areas where the houses area located, is
alfalfa on irrigated fields. In the areas where the houses are located, there are two different vegetation
communities. Near the house which will be removed in Phase B 1 and near the George house along
6200 Road, the vegetation community is dry rangeland. In these areas, the following species of plants
can be found:
Russian Thistle
Galleta
Blue Grama
Kentucky Bluegrass
Bottlebrush squirreltai)
The final vegetation community which exists within the permit area is a cottonwood grove which
exists on the western edge of the old Metcalf Pit. The vegetation communites on the adjacent land is
similar to that which is present in the permit area. To the north, west and south irrigated fields exist,
and to the east there is an area of dry rangeland on the slopes which leads down to more irrigated
fields. Near the southwest comer of the permit area, there is a small residential zone.
All of these vegetation communities can be seen on Map C-1 Pre-Mining Plan Map. Below are
several pictures which show the vegetation in the proximity of the permit area.
Haldorson Sand and Gravel Mine 45
