DIVISION OF MINERALS & GEOLOGY BOARD PERMIT AMENDMENT APPLICATION
REGULAR OPERATION (112)
PERMIT # M-1992-066
HOGUE RIVER PIT
EXHIBIT E Reclamation Plan
G. Topsoil stockpiles have been used to create berms for visual impact along the
northern side of the mining operation. Routt County requested that the landowner be
consulted in regard to leaving the topsoil berms at this location at the completion of
mining. The landowner; however, chooses to have the berms flattened to the level of the
natural terrain. These topsoil berms will be distributed azound the pond to create an
irregular shore line. Areas subject to reclamation will be covered with approximately 6 to
12 inches of topsoil.
H. Erosion at the site is anticipated to be minimal as the existing topography is relatively
flat. Also, the placement of the processing plants and material stockpiles within
excavated areas will concentrate the areas subject to erosion. Potential erosion aeeas will
be self contained by utilizing the pit area and pit dewatering system.
I. Prior to final reclamation all slopes will be constructed so that no slopes steeper than
3:1 will be evident from a minimum of five feet above the eventual surface of the water
to ten feet below the surface of the water. From ten feet below the water surface to the
bottom of the excavation, slopes will not be steeper than 2:1. All areas above the water
surface and to a minimum of three feet below the water surface will receive topsoil.
At the conclusion of the mining operation and after reclamation is completed, dewatering
operations will be terminated. This will allow the excavated area to fill with water. Due
to the existing topography, natural high water table and observations of the previous
pond, it is estimated that the pond will reach full water capacity within two weeks.
Depending upon the time of year operations are terminated, water from the irrigation
ditch maybe directed into the pond area to accelerate filling activities.
K. The following seeding recornmendations were recommended by the Routt County Soil
Conservation Service:
Smooth Brome Manchar 30% 41bs/ac
Pubescent Wheatgr. Luna 50% 71bs/ac
Alfalfa Ranger 20% 1.51bs/ac
