Excess Topsoil
b. Overburden
c. Rip Rap
d. Specialized type sands and gravel
Excess sand, crusher rejects and other unsuitable material from sand and gravel
processing will be used as backfill in pit excavations.
The wash plant will be set up so that water from the washing operation will be
directed into a settling pond and recycled for reuse in the wash plant.
8. Water diversions will be constructed in connection with perimeter trench drains
and dewatering systems. Interior water diversions may be required for site
drainage. A 100 foot "no work zone" will be preserved between the pit area and
the Yampa River. Yampa River flows will not be affected.
A water impoundment will be created after pit excavations are completed and the
dewatering system is terminated. Small water impoundments may also be created
at the settling ponds used for dewatering operations. These areas may be utilized
for wetlands construction by backfilling with overburden or unsuitable material
and covering the material with topsoil and/or existing wetland dredge.
9. Basic phasing of mine operations is subject to the approval of the owners. Phase
planning is designated to meet the requirements set forth by Mr. Hogue and the
Hogue Ranch as well as utilize the gravel reserves on this property.
10. The project was proposed to consist of four main phases of mining operation.
This Amendment application is for the purpose of adding a Phase V. Phase V
being the 13 acres located in the northwest corner of the currently permitted azea,
which we did not plan to mine .
Total area affected in Phase I was approximately 15 acres in size and has been
completed at the time of this application. Removed topsoil was stockpiled along
the north side of the property as shown on the attached map. This was done to
help minimize the visual impact of mining operations from U.S. Highway 40.
