Considerations of the <br />immediate and long-term use of the County-owned Shawano Mesa property dictate that, <br />following the gravel mining use of this property, the premises are to be used as an industrial <br />yazdsite for ongoing County maintenance, storage and other yard site uses. To that end, <br />reclamation at the site shall be the leveling, grading and compacting of the surface. Much of the <br />surface will consist of flat-graded residual products or placed gravel and pit run gravelly <br />material. Other portions may be just the compacted soils or consolidated rock from beneath the <br />extracted gravelly resource material. Shaped slopebanks and the bermed/daylighted crests, <br />where they occur, shall be topsoiled and revegetated. <br />To accommodate these changes in the current application, County of Montrose is requesting the <br />re-star[ of the consideration time for this application so that the advertising, county boazd & SCD <br />notices, mailed notices, and application revisions may be accomplished, as required. <br />Below aze our comments on the adequacy issues from your correspondence of 5 Apri12002. <br />1) Owners of structures within 200 feet of the southwest alternate access azea have been <br />identified, both on the revised application "Exhibit C" `Mining Plan Map' and within the <br />revised description of structures of "Exhibit S". Copies of applicable damage <br />reimbursement agreements aze included. <br />2) The entire mining area has been labeled on the "Exhibit C" `Mining Plan Map'. <br />3) The apparent discrepancy in mining boundary contours in the southeast extraction area have <br />been modified on the "Exhibit C" `Mining Plan Map'. <br />4) Structures and their owners within 200 feet of the southwest alternate access area have been <br />identified, both on the revised application "Exhibit C Mining Plan Map", and within the <br />revised application "Exhibit S" description of structures. Copies of applicable damage <br />reimbursement agreements are included. <br />5) According to the information we have been able to wnfum with Colorado Department of <br />Public Health and Enironment, the third paragraph of the "Exhibit D" `Mining Plan' is <br />accurate in asserting that "...No acid, toxic, nor hazardous waste products shall be involved <br />in the proposed action." Production and storage of asphaltic concrete "mix" is not <br />considered by the Air Pollution Control Division nor Hazardous Waste Division to be <br />
