MINING PLAN
NOTES REGARDING THIS AMENDED EXHIBIT: The information provided pertains to the
Amendment 2 area and any modifications in the Amendment 1 exhibits that is changed as a result of
Amendment 2. For the most part, very little is changed in the Amendment 1 mining plan as a result of this
amendment. The mining of this Amendment 2 area is basically an extension of the mining methods applied
in the adjacent Amendment 1 area. The two areas will be merged with no barrier separating the two and
thus will become a single unit.
Nature of the Deposit to be Mined
The gravel deposit within the amendment area is simply an extension of the deposits to the north.
Those were described in the previous amendment. Although the depth of the deposit is not known with
precision, it is likely to be similar to or slightly deeper than the gravel to the north which is in the pemuY.
The trend in current mining is that the gravel deepens south and west of the initial operation. This trend is
expected to continue, but with an increase in depth that amounts to little more than a couple of feet.
General Groundwater Considerations
Groundwater conditions are not expected to differ greatly from that which has been experienced in
the existing operation. In general, the inflow of groundwater is fairly strong. As a rule, the closer the
mining moves to the river the stronger the inflow of water. This site should not present any conditions that
are different from those already encountered.
Permit Area and Affected Land Area
(within the Amendment 2 area only)
Permit Area: The amended permit area (current pemvt and amendment combined), shown on Exhibit
C-1(Amendment 2), encompasses a slightly larger area than the area where the operation is designed to
occur.
It is recognized that just because an azea is pernutted does not necessarily mean it can be mined.
The permit area for the Amendment 2 azea follows the approximate river channel edge on the east and west
sides. The southern line follows an old fence on the eastern portion and then extends along the southern
edge of the Old Berm. The boundary has been established by survey. This boundary IS NOT the edge of
the disturbance area which is defined by the Affected Land Boundary discussed in the next section.
Affected Land Area: The Mining Limit (Affected Land Boundary) is the critical boundary that defines
the edge of the allowable disturbance area. This boundary not only includes the mining area but all land
Pueblo East Pit Amendment 2 (2004) Exhibit D Page 2 of 6
