2. Mining Timetable <br />The following timetable is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the mine after <br />March of 2002 and is based on mining and selling 100,000 tons of total product per year (this is less <br />than the permit rates but are expected averages): <br />Task Description Time Needed <br />1 Finish mining east of existing Berry Pit 3 months <br />2 Construct sediment pond in sw comer of disturbed area 0.25 months <br />3 Strip soil and overburden from Strip 1 0.25 months <br />4 Mine Strip 1 20 months <br />5 Repeat Tasks 3 and 4 for Strips 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 168 months <br />6 Backfill overburden and soil in Strip 9 0.25 months <br />7 Regrade pit area and stockpile area 0.5 months <br />8 Retopsoil processing area and stockpile area 0.25 months <br />9 Reseed and mulch last 4 strips, processing area and stockpile area 0.25 months <br />Total: 192.5 months <br />Note: If large contracts are awarded to the site, production could increase to the permit maximum, <br />thereby curtailing the life of the pit. On the other hand, if contracts are less than anticipated, the life of <br />the pit could be extended. This table is based on a reasonable projection of average production rates. <br />3. HydrologYand Sediment Control for Mining <br />No major streams or intermittent streams intersect the disturbed area although the White River is lo- <br />Gated a few thousand feet to the south of the permit area. <br />Sediment control for the permit area is provided by a berm on all downstream parts of the permit area, <br />which will have a collection ditch on the inside edge leading to the sediment pond. The berm will be a <br />minimum of 2.0 feet high with 2H:1 V sidelsopes. This berm will actually be part of a larger protection <br />Berry Pit 3/02 <br />
