2. Mining Timetable
The following timetable is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the mine after
March of 2002 and is based on mining and selling 100,000 tons of total product per year (this is less
than the permit rates but are expected averages):
Task Description Time Needed
1 Finish mining east of existing Berry Pit 3 months
2 Construct sediment pond in sw comer of disturbed area 0.25 months
3 Strip soil and overburden from Strip 1 0.25 months
4 Mine Strip 1 20 months
5 Repeat Tasks 3 and 4 for Strips 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 168 months
6 Backfill overburden and soil in Strip 9 0.25 months
7 Regrade pit area and stockpile area 0.5 months
8 Retopsoil processing area and stockpile area 0.25 months
9 Reseed and mulch last 4 strips, processing area and stockpile area 0.25 months
Total: 192.5 months
Note: If large contracts are awarded to the site, production could increase to the permit maximum,
thereby curtailing the life of the pit. On the other hand, if contracts are less than anticipated, the life of
the pit could be extended. This table is based on a reasonable projection of average production rates.
3. HydrologYand Sediment Control for Mining
No major streams or intermittent streams intersect the disturbed area although the White River is lo-
Gated a few thousand feet to the south of the permit area.
Sediment control for the permit area is provided by a berm on all downstream parts of the permit area,
which will have a collection ditch on the inside edge leading to the sediment pond. The berm will be a
minimum of 2.0 feet high with 2H:1 V sidelsopes. This berm will actually be part of a larger protection
Berry Pit 3/02
