MINING PLAN <br />1. General Plan- Mining <br />EXHIBIT D <br />Up to the permit amendment in 2002, the original Berry Pit permit area consisted of approximately <br />50 acres. The gravel zone was approximately 20 feet thick and was overlain by soil and overburden <br />of 2-18 feet. The average thickness of soil/overburden was 12 feet. The topsoil/overburden was <br />stockpiled on the north side of the permit area as shown on Map C-2. This soil and overburden will <br />be used to reclaim the original permit area. The area was mined by first excavating soil/overburden <br />with scrapers or front end loaders and stockpiling the material on the north of the pit. The raw <br />gravel material was placed in a portable crusher/screen plant and various sizes of product were <br />made and placed in separate stockpiles. The 2002 amendment was made to allow mining of the <br />adjacent area to the south of the original area. This results in a total permit area of 91.21 acres. <br />The total disturbed area is 67.5 acres. The breakdown of this acreage given below is based on a <br />worst case disturbance for the life of the pit: <br />Area Description Acreage <br />1. Soil/Overburden Stockpiles 4.5 <br />2. Partially reclaimed areas 12.0 <br />Total 67.5 <br />Dozers, loaders and trucks may be used to mine the gravel and haul it to the processing plant. This <br />plant consists of a portable rock crusher and screen plant to obtain the desired material sizes. Cer- <br />tain sizes may be used as feed for an on-site portable concrete plant and portable asphalt plant. Up <br />to 4 portable stacker conveyors are used to stockpile the various sizes of material. Processed mate- <br />rial is stored in stockpile areas as shown on Map C-2.
