C. Couplings for the pipe shall be corrugated to match the pipe <br />corrugations and shall provide sufficient longitudinal <br />strength to preserve the pipe alignment and prevent separation <br />of the joint. <br />D. Standardized Products: Nominal size as shown on the <br />drawings. <br />2.2 PIPE BEDDING AND PIPE ZONE BACKFILL <br />The pipe bedding and pipe zone shall meet the specification for <br />filter material as defined in the State of Colorado "Standard <br />Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction", Section 703.09, <br />Class A Gradation. <br />PART 3 EXECUTION <br />3.1 INSTALLATION-GENERAL <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall begin installation of the drainage pipe <br />as soon as practicable but no later than 20 days after the <br />installation of the slurry wall has passed Station 95+00. <br />B. Join pipe and fittings in accordance with manufacturer's <br />instructions, unless otherwise shown or specified. <br />C. Remove foreign objects prior to assembly and installation. <br />3.2 INSTALLATION-BURIED PIPE <br />A. Placement: <br />1. Keep trench dry until pipe laying and joining are <br />completed. <br />2. Exercise care when lowering gipe into trench to prevent <br />twisting or damage to pipe. <br />3. Measure for grade at pipe invert, not at top of pipe. <br />4. Prevent foreign material from entering pipe during <br />placement. <br />5. Close and block open end of last laid pipe section when <br />placement operations are not in progress and at close of <br />day's Work. <br />6. Lay pipe upgrade with bell ends pointing in direction of <br />laying. <br />7. After joint has been made, check pipe alignment and <br />grade. <br />8. Place sufficient pipe zone material to secure pipe from <br />movement before next joint is installed. <br />9.
