The annual average tonnage mined and sold from the site aze best predictions since many factors
such as the economy, competition, etc. greatly affect the actual sales.
The life of the gravel operation will be 15 yeazs. Where the gravel is mined from is not easy to deter-
mine since it is very dependent upon the gold operation. If the gold operation is viable over the 12-13
yeazs shown in the plan, a lazge part (60,000 tpy) of the gravel sold from the site will be the waste
gravel from the gold plant. If the gold operation is uneconomic, gravel will then be aggressively
mined from the gravel mine azea as shown on Map C-2. For planning purposes, it is predicted that
the gravel operation will be in place I S yeazs at an average product sales rate of 130,000 tons per
yeaz, with 2 possible scenarios:
1) The gold mine operates for 12 years and using the same average of 130,000 tons sold per yeaz,
60,000 tons per year will come from the waste gravel from the gold plant for 12 yeazs and all tonnage
coming from the gravel mine azea for the remaining 3 yeazs. Therefore, the tonnage to be mined from
the gravel area is 70,000 tons per yeaz x 12 yeazs + 130,000 tons x 2 years = 1,100,000 tons. The rec-
lamation plan map assumes that this case will occur, therefore, it shows a volume removed in the
gravel mine azea of 1,100,100 tons.
2) The gold mine does not operate for any significant period of time. In this case, the gravel mine
will produce all sold material from the gravel mine azea, which is basically 2,000,000 tons over the
15 yeaz period. Almost all of the previously mined areas aze reclaimed from gravel mining.
In either scenario, front end loaders will be used to deliver the raw gravel to the crushing, screening
and wash plants for sepazation into vazious products. Fogger sprays will be present in all three plants
to keep dust down. The crusher will also employ sprays. The plants will be located to minimize im-
pacts to the town of Alma.
The breakdown of the disturbed acreage is given below:
Alma Placer 7/03 24
