Comments - Compliance <br />Below are comments on the inspection, The comments include discussion of <br />observations made during the inspection, Comments also describe any <br />enforcement actions taken during the inspection and the facts or evidence <br />supporting the enforcement action, <br />This was a complete inspection conducted by Steve Wathen and Larry <br />Routten of the Division of• Minerals and Geology (as part of a regularly <br />scheduled inspection) and oversiphted by Gary Fritz of the Office of <br />Surface mining. Accompanying the Livision on this inspection was Juan <br />Garcia and Jim Kier of Colowyo Coal Company. 1'Ite inspection tool: three <br />full days and resulted in a list of maintenance items and a request For <br />revisions by the Division. <br />Weather <br />BeautifLrl "Indian Summer" da}•s, clear in the high eighties. <br />Records <br />.~11 records found to be complete and up to date. Operator must include <br />key on blasting records form clearly explaining sketch symbols <br />(4.U8.1(b). <br />Suns <br />)line identification sign reported to be in shop by Rich Atkinson of <br />Colowyo (sign normally present;. Topsoil and boundary markers present <br />and •:isible even on two newly completed topsoil stockpiles Il:i-B, 16-C ). <br />Roads <br />Roads all intact and functional. Road ditches intact and functional etcept for a small <br />portion of the inside ditch for the access road to the Prospect Pond. <br />Operator must deepen this ditch or close road with water bars. <br />Jim F;iger stated that he would submit a recision soon to construct a road <br />to calk the dragline currently in the Section it pit to the Section 16 <br />pit {scheduled to occur in ivovember). <br />Hvdrolo¢ic Balance <br />:111 ponds were inspected and found to be intact and functional. The <br />following ponds contained water: Tailor, Warehouse, Streeter*, Loadout* <br />and Sto;•:er*. The Streeter Pond has recentl}- been cleaned of <br />appro.Yimatel~- 2,000 cubic yards of sediment. 1* minor amounts of water) <br />The operator has recently had all ponds surve}ed by an independent <br />contractor.
