EXHIBIT D
Mining Plan
The future mine expansion areas contain a terrace gravel deposit ranging from
approximately 15 to 25 feet thick. The expansion azeas aze adjacent to the 32 Road
Gravel Pit on the east, north and west sides. The proposed operation's primazy
commodity will be pit run aggregate, to be crushed and screened at the processing site to
make gravel for construction projects.
Prior to mining, 10 feet of topsoil and overburden material will be removed from
a portion of Mining Area A, also identified on maps as Pazcel 1. Using a scraper or front-
end loader, topsoil stripping will begin on the eastern side of Area A at a point at least 30
feet from the east property line near a row of cottonwood trees. All topsoil will be saved
and stockpiled near the southeastern corner of Area A.
When mining commences in Area A, a rock crusher will process material. Front-
end loaders will excavate gravel and load it into the crusher or directly into trucks for job
site delivery. Site gravel resources will be mined so that no less than 2 feet of gravel will
remain, or will be replaced as a cover over the Mancos Shale formation.
All crushing, storing and loading of pit run material in Mining Areas A, B and C,
will occur on the floor of the excavation, approximately 40 feet below the existing
ground surface elevation. The pit floor will be graded north and west for irrigated
farming when reclamation is completed.
A portion of the pit access road will be rerouted in a southeasterly direction to
facilitate mining in the proposed expanded pit area.
Explosives will not be used during mining operations.
Mining Areas A, B and C will be as depicted on the Exhibit C map.
Mining Area A. Mining Area A will be mined first. Area A is east of the present
permit affected area, contains approximately 18.9 acres of land, and is the greater part of
the property proposed for pit expansion. Mining operations in Area A will proceed from
west to east. Topsoil will be stripped by a scraper and stockpiled in the southeast corner
of Area A. Some overburden will be stored nearby at a convenient location, and the
balance of overburden will be loaded from the material bank onto trucks to be sold.
