1
roadway (Black Canyon Road) have been reviewed at the office of the ;:ity
Engineer.
' The entire access road is located on an East-Northeast facing. slope
paralleling and approximately 130' vertical above a drainage tributary to the
' Black Canyon Drainage Basin. This tributary, for purposes of the CAP, is
referred to as the "Snyder Fork". The access road was constructed by a b.aslc
' cut on the uphill (South) and fill on the downhill (North) side of the
alignment. This resulted In exposed rock faces ranging Prom 10' to 15' High
' and fill slopes extending much as 200' horizontal below the edge. The road
width varies from 20 to 32 feet and was found to be an average of 30 feet. A
portion of the road has a drainage ditch on the uphill side. A MSHA standard
' vehicle barrier berm has been constructed along the length of the North :;ide
of the road. Runoff not carried in the uphill ditch is carried along the berm
to periodic breaches or breaks where it is allowed to Plow down the slope to
the drainage course. There are currently no drainage culvert crossings. The
' driving surface of 30 feet average contains asphaltic concrete paving. See a
Typical Roadway Section 1n the Exhibits portion of this document for a
standard representation oP the access road.
The access roadway is used on a regular basis by employees and customers
' going to and Prom the quarry site. Roadway maintenance is conducted by the
Operator from MP 0.0 to the quarry. This maintenance consists of asphalt
' repair and patch, application of water for dust abatement, general repairs, and
snow removal and chip sanding during the winter months. The roadwa;~ is
posted at the lower end regarding its primary usage as quarry access as a
notice to the general public.
' HYDROLOGY
The Snyder Quarry Access Road and all of the currently actively mined
' portion oP the quarry lie within the Black Canyon Drainage Basin. This b~:sin
was the subJect of a Drainage Basin Master Plan Study In accordance with the
' then current City oP Colorado Springs Drainage Criteria Standards in 1980.
The study was conducted by Weiss Consulting Engineers, Inc., and published

2
1
