' accomplished by the equipment used to correct the other conditions on
this dlsturbance area.
r On disturbance areas #2 and #3 the application of soil wilt. be
somewhat limited and will be done simply by end dumping over the side
' of the road. Although end dumping seems a precarious method of soil
distribution it actually works well if conditions are proper, as they appear
' to be here. This method has been locally used at other sites ;ind,
provided the area needing soil is uniform in grade, the method provides
' an excellent and uniform soil distribution. This method was used to
spread soil over the Pace oP the 100+ feet high waste pile at the Pikeview
Quarry and the growth, after seeding, has almost totally stabilized the
' site in about 3 years.
On dlsturbance area #4 the end dump approach will be used after the
removal of the existing material. After the waste has been removed the
' surface conditions should be appropriate for the use oP the end dumping
process. That ls, after removal of the waste, the surface conditions
' should be similar to what is currently found on disturbance areas #2
and #3.
The minor disturbances (numbers 5 through Tl will be treated as
needed and appropriate for that location. In some instances, little
' treatment other than surface roughening would be needed. In other
Instances Boll will be needed to provide a suitable medium to establish
vegetation.
The soil to be used on all locations will come primarily Prom
' stockpiles located in the quarry. This soil originally came from Cedar
Heights as a disposal product produced when some of the Cedar Hei@hts
' roads were built. Although we suggested Cedar Heights use the soil on
their own roadsides to help revegetate them, they decided to discard it.
' Castle Concrete accepted this soli. This is the same soil that was u:~ed
~~
is
1
