The permit area rs not prone to flooding from adjoining properties or the two nearby Spring Creek and Alkali
Creek, both of which are inlermdfenl drainage channels The predominate drainage course found in the vicinity
of the site is the Eagle River, which is north of the permit boundary and flows appro>amately 60 feet below the
site A review of the Flood Rate Insurance Map for the area ~ndreates That none of the disturbed areas on the
sde are prone to flooding by the river
Mining rs conducted in a manner that will not increase the discharged amount of surface stormwater runoff
above historic flows. Any storm water runoff entering the site wdl be captured within the pd area and allowed to
evaporate or percolate into the ground In order to maintain the quafrry of any surface storm water, which
crosses any e~osed ground areas, a Storm Water Management Plan (SWMP), has been prepared The
Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has issued a perms A key element of the plan calls
for grading the area in a manner that wdl not allow the discharge of any Srlt laden storm water from the property
in the event 01 a storm Thus, elRninating any stormwater discharges from the disturbed areas of the site This is
accomplished by duecung Bows towards one e>osbng and one future pond areas on the property. A drainage
analysis rs presented on the following pages. The analysis indicates that the varqus stormwater conveyance
elements are property s¢ed m the event of a mafor storm event.
Water is used on site when necessary to control dust in the mining area. during crushing operations, and on
haul roads.
