• It is assumed that the stream-aquifer relationships are consistent
throughout the model domain and that this assumption does not impact
predictive results.
• It is assumed that no other significant stressors exist within the area
covered by the model domain that could impact the predictive results.
• It is assumed that no significant vertical stratification exists in the aquifer
that could impact drawdown configurations or result in anomalous flow
patterns within the aquifer.
• It is assumed that the true configuration of the aquifer bottom (bedrock
surface) is consistent with the USGS mapping and that there are no
significant variations in the bedrock surface on other than a very local
scale.
• It is assumed that the north mine phase, once mined out and allowed to
flood will, in fact, attenuate to some degree the drawdown contours
generated by the southern mining phase, depending on the actual relative
locations. This means that the model, as configured for the combined
north-south mine phases, is conservative in this regard.
• It is assumed that seasonal variations in average aquifer water table do not
alter the aquifer-saturated thickness to a degree.such that significant (more
than 10 to 20 percent) changes in transmissivity will_be observed.
• It is assumed that the steady-state simulations would, in the long run
match transient runs if allowed to run to a point of negligible change in
10
Martin and Wood Water Consultants, Inc.
