As abatement for the Notice of Violation issued to Battle Mountain ~o1d (BMG)
on March 31, 1992, the Mined Land Reclamation Board imposed the fo1 owing
abatement requirements, as proposed by the Division with amendments{ as noted.
(1) Increased Tai 1 i cgs Area Security:
Status: Implemented - BMG submitted acceptable proposal Apri1;3, 1992,
and implemented increased security immediately.
July Progress: - 8MG increased its hazing staff by 6 peopl trained
in Cyanide Safety by MSHA on July 10, 199 .
(2) Rssessme~t of Ewiro~me~tal Impact:
Status: Satisfied - BMG submitted acceptable report April 13, 1992.
(3) Accelerated Frequency of E~vironme~tal Monitoring;
Status: Implemented - BMG is complying with the accelerated fr{eauency.
- The Division has declined to approve relaxation.
(4) Tailings Cyanide Deto~ificatio~;
Status: On Going - In Compliance
Ju~v Progress: - BP?G continued CYTOX treatment, in accordance with
TR-004, throughout the month of July.
- BMG continued Hydrogen Peroxide treatment, in
accordance with TR-007, throughout the mon h of July

- The Division forwarded technical adequacy emments
on TR-010 on July 9, 1992, including the c mments
submitted by Dr. Hyatt, on behalf of the p rties.
- BM RI responded to the Division's TR-010 co ments
on July 13, 1992.
- Dr. Hyatt submitted comments regarding BMR~'s
response on July 15, 1992, on behalf of th~ parties.
- The Division approved preliminary site pre aration,
excavation and footing construction July 2 1992.
