Shuey <br />Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman St., Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />J., <br />i,~t~, <br />Re: Somerset Mining Company <br />NOV-92-034; Application for a Minor Revision <br />Permit C-81-022 <br />Dear Mr. Shuey: <br />The abatement for the subject NOV required the operator to; 1) <br />identify and properly store or dispose of the drums and contents of <br />the 55 gallon drums stored in the metal shed; 2) provide to the <br />Division, proof of proper storage or disposal of the drums and <br />their contents and; 3) permit an approved noncoal waste storage <br />area and maintain storage of all noncoal waste within that area. <br />The subject metal building has been relocated to the area of the <br />rock dust bins. The barrel marked PCB's was empty. Seventeen of <br />the barrels have liquid in them. The barrels were labeled A <br />through Q for identification. Barrel Q is a 30 <br />gallon drum. The unknown liquid in barrels E, F, G and K is a <br />light oil probably a transmission oil or transformer oil. In any <br />case, the oily liquid in these barrels is not considered hazardous. <br />The storage of the barrels in the metal building is believed to be <br />"proper" storage. A six inch lip around the floor of the metal <br />building provides secondary containment. As explained in the <br />
