MANACENFM
RECEIVED
MAR O 1 1999
Division of Minerals a Geology
By letter dated December 23, 1998, the DMG listed its expectations for a testing plan to
determine if the lower 20-feet of the gob pile meets compaction specifications. Enclosed are two
copies of a report from Lambert and Associates dated February 17, 1999 which present the
results of their field and laboratory study for density tests of the lower portion of the gob pile.
We enhanced Lambert's Figure 1 to present a section view of the drill holes which shows the
vertical distribution of their laboratory relative compaction values. Considering the limitations in
the sampling method employed, the results of this investigation confirm the bottom twenty (20)
feet of the gob pile was compacted to achieve 90% of the maximum dry density.
Please call if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
f<~~
J.
