Section III - Status of Stipulations <br /> (continued) <br /> Stipulation No. 10 <br /> All springs in the five-year permit area and adjacent area (those in <br /> Sections 18 and 19, T13S, R91W, and Section 24, T13S, R92W) shall be <br /> monitored for discharge and water quality (i .e. pH, electro-conductivity <br /> and temperature) on a quarterly basis as weather permits . The data <br /> gathered from the monitoring shall be submitted to the Division quarterly. <br /> Resolved: CWI ' s spring monitoring program is described in <br /> Section 2 .05.6(3)(b)( iii ) of the permit application and documented more <br /> specifically in Table 3 of Volume 4. Data gathered is submitted on an <br /> annual basis and available for review throughout the year at the mine <br /> offices. <br /> Stipulation 11 <br /> The operator shall begin monitoring the alluvium of the Stevens Gulch well <br /> field. The monitoring well should be monitored monthly for water levels <br /> and quarterly for water chemistry. The data gathered from the well shall <br /> be submitted to the Division quarterly. <br /> Resolved: CWI describes its monitoring of alluvial /colluvial deposits , <br /> including the Stevens Gulch wellfield in 2.05. 6(3)(b)(iii ) . The two wells <br /> in the Stevens Gulch wellfield are SM-2 and SM-9. <br /> Stipulation No. 12 <br /> Colorado Westmoreland, Inc. is directed to complete Phase II of the <br /> geotechnical and stability analyses of its surface facilities area at the <br /> Orchard Valley Mine, as outlined in the various letters of proposal from <br /> Merrick & Company and Geohydro Consultants included in Volume 10 of the <br /> amended application. Phase II of this study includes an analysis of <br /> alternate proposed sites for a coal processing waste pile at the <br /> Orchard Valley Mine. The scope of Phase II shall include test drilling <br /> and excavation of test pits , the installation of appropriate water <br /> quantity and quality monitoring wells , the performance of various rock and <br /> soil tests , and the performance of a series of stability analyses dealing <br /> with existing surface facility configurations and with the proposed <br /> alternative sites and structures for a coal processing waste pile. This <br /> analysis shall be complete and a report summarizing the results and <br /> methodology thereof submitted to the Division for review by December 31 , <br /> 1981 . <br /> Resolved: The final submittal of Phase II was received by the Division on <br /> April 16, 1982 and approved on May 17, 1982. It is incorporated into the <br /> permit application in Volume 6. <br /> -8- <br />
