1
August 23, 2000
The embankment stockpile was constructed in 1987. DM has not
' observed evidence of slumping, settling or slope movement for th stockpile
since it was constructed. The highwall area appeared to have been excavated
' from competent rock, evidence of instability appeared to be limited to r otential for
' rock fall.
' October 6, 2000
1
A slope stability analysis at the embankment area would be r quired by
DMG. An acceptable procedure for determining soil strength includes
' estimation based on limited field and laboratory investigation. Rec mmended
' minimum factors of safety against movement range between 1.25 nd 2.0 or
greater. The reported recommended range depends on certainty f strength
' measurements, cost of repair and potential danger to human life or prol erty.
' October 11 , 2000
1
' Fracture mapping, analysis of slope stability and potential for ro k roll out
analysis was requested for the highwall area.
Rhino Engineering, Inc.
t Unaweep Quarry
GEG Job No.593 3
