Revised 11/20/81
lift is normally less than 6 inches. Small size results from the mining
operation and the operation of the Bradford Breaker itself. In
addition, compaction and placement of the lifts also tend to decrease
the size' of the material. Therefore, compaction of the material is
attained by routing the truck traffic over the spread and leveled areas.
coal Processing waste bank is sloped to a maximum slope of 2 horizontal
to 1 vertical. Completion of this grading process is by crawler
tractors. The gentle slope enhances the erosion control of the slope
and the subsequent reclamation of the coal processing waste bank. In
addition, the gentle slope increases the stability of the coal
processing waste bank over a long term period.
Material, other than coal processing waste which is generated by normal
operation of the Allen Mine, is disposed of in two separate ways. Trash
caste consisting of paper, cans, rags, and other assorted minor
industrial waste associated with general office, shop, and warehouse
areas is placed in dumpsters and hauled to the Las Animas County
Sanitary landfill for disposal. Other waste material such as machinery,
scrap iron, equipment, which has some salvage value, is placed in the
scrap storage area shown on the Mine Plan Map (Map 3). After the mining
operation is completed, and during the reclamation activities, material,
machinery, and other items left in the surface disposal scrap storage
area will be removed and disposed of at the local sanitary landfill or
other appropriate location.
Petroleum products which are used in the normal mining operation will be
collected and reclaimed where possible. Where rejuvenation of the
petroleum products is not possible, they will be sold to local petroleum
dealers as waste oil. Disposal of petroleum products which cannot be
sold or reclaimed will be disposed of offsite at the appropriate
sanitary landfill disposal site.
2.05-24
